The city screams uniqueness. Come hither media machinations. Suggestive sirens whose sultry intent invents the ideal living for the lonely. Leave the farm and field leave too the village, join the yield of promise only burn your bridges in your wake. Dazzle in the lights and endless nights whose university's diversity, what's in the small town quaint is here perverse and know you ain't no worse, so no complaint immerse instead like Andy Griffith's Otis in the revelry of devilry and show us just how different you are. So twist your small town spine or get in line with those who like you dreamed unique but found oblique their notion seeking life devine. We mass and congregate in concrete catacombs alas we have created tombs we hoped were wombs instead are stains which wane to bloodless pain where callousness not only reigns but is a ball and chain which slaps us down in traps where soundlessly the unseen Queen of clocks controls our walks in loping gaits whose unturned heads like faceless dead prefers the blind and never minds, the mirrored sulk so passes through the masses who as they do, race from anthill homes to work place drones and sink their thinking to convince themselves that wealth in age'd shrinking is not in self dicovery but in recovery of small town mor'es thoughts thus leaven'd finding heaven saves them from the craven caves of slavish ways spent in the urban dream which kept them tethered in blaspheme with bibles feather graves and hope the next place that they move will improve their station's cross they mourn the loss but can't goback to the Kodak existence of the simple past, the present tense it's urban fence surrounds the ID its bounds its grid. (pant pant pant pant) The plains city shrinks reluctantly in the rectangle rearview as I seek the peace and comfort of field or forest mountain or even ocean view. I need a vacation. |

You sure do need a vacation! But...you captured city life so well, that is why I simply up and "quit" one day walking from the seabus to work like some kind of bee to a hive! I left a fantastic job, to collect coupons and smile every day! You captured this perfectly Richard and oh how I envy small town folks, they have it made. ~To see real beauty you must look with your heart~ |

What a mouthful, and so true, how it feels so good to leave it all behind. Very good vent and expression of a much needed vacation! I traded the city for tree frogs and crickets. Sincerely, Regina |

Thank God for small home-towns and epiphanies in Wisdom... I could feel the pulse which you described and believe my blood-pressure went up a little bit. You touched on some profound things here, Richard... -MVS "When you tell the Truth, you never have to remember what you just said." |

RSWells- WOW! After reading this, I need a vacation too! Wonderfully written; and, yes...you've captured the feelings well. Now...get out of here and take that vacation! ~vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, you have not truely met the poet." -vlraynes [This message has been edited by vlraynes (edited 08-09-2001).] |

Geez, I was hoping this would stay buried. "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve" |
