My heart stopped caring. One day this summer it must have been, I don't guess I quite understand it myself, but I know something is definitely wrong because I don't feed the birds anymore. I have the seeds that the squirrels won't steal in a jar that sits in the cabinet. I have sugar to mix one part to four but the feeders swing empty the hummers long gone my heart no longer wings with them in flight. I have lost the need to write the despair lightens not no matter the position of the sun. My word well no longer overfills seeking relief; it stands stagnant. Procrastination tells me that complacency is not so bad. Indecision has made my grief and anger content to place down my pen on an empty page. I press my forehead to the glass and gaze at my blank birdless world with uncaring eyes but I can't picture me in it and I wonder if that's why I don't feed the birds anymore. |

How do we get tto the place we don't picture ourselves in the world we once knew and loved? I know many ways to get there...but I hope you find your way back... which is harder to do... I personally... hope you find it soon.... strong ending..and a strong poem... |

I am in absolute awe of the emotion, or lack of it...you've communicated with this. I really loved this poem. And I bet the birds miss you. |

Jellybeans ..... this is so good, so haunting, so inviting of an answer. The birds, with the suggestion of flight, made me remember a time when it was possible to sit up, late into the night, and outlast a sad or tiresome day by experiencing a television sign-off. Do you remember? See http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/history/prewwii/jgm.htm Thank you for sharing. Bob |

an extremely powerful and poignant write of which I so fully understand I'm very, very slowly starting to crawl out of this symptom or stage, then for awhile I stop again. Let me ditto everyone here, too. Their responses are so 'right on!' |

The sense of desolation is perfectly captured jellybeans. Beautifully written. Come away from that window now, won't you please? There are birds hungry for your attention, and fellow poets hungry for your words. |

Exquisite poem! You turned the mundane into something delicate and longing. I hope you find your way back outside. Your words still feed us! Sincerely, Regina |
