If I’m well and fine and in real good health,
If I have no wants and have fame and wealth,
You’ve vowed to love me.

If I’m old and gray, no teeth in my head,
If I’m deaf and blind, no use in you bed,
You’ve vowed to love me.

If I’m poor and out, no cash to my name,
If nothing is left, and I’m broke with shame,
You’ve vowed to love me.

These vows you’ve kept, for all these years.
I love you darling, and I’ll always be near.

2dalimit-
   What beautiful vows these are,
and how wonderful that they have been kept.
   Nicely written.

very nicely done.  Too many people forget thier vows.  It is rare to find someone to truly mean and keep them.

Vicky, We are proud of our accomplishment. Thank you for reading... Melton

Ramrog, Thank you. We haven’t forgotten and we are rare. Due to the choice while we were teenagers, one girl screamed at us, ‘we deserve each other’. We have considered that a compliment all these years.
BTW- Welcome to PIP... Melton

Marge, We are lucky and blest. Thank you... Melton

Wonderful that such love still exists, and not just in my imagination.

This poem is so wonderful. Vows and promises are sacred bonds, broken daily by people who may not really believe them when they say them, but may be merely repeating the words because they sound good. If you tell someone you'll be there in sickness and in health, what does your word mean if you run the other way during hard times or illness? And yet it seems to happen that way more often than not. What you and your mate have is rare. I wish you a Happy Anniversary each and every day, and may your celebration of true love live forever.
