I used to sit in my office chair On a slanty floor On a piece of carpet Aiming for the door, The carpet kept the chair in place But each and every day I'd reach up for a paper clip And the chair would rollaway! I'd roll across the room Unless I could get a grip On the edge of my desk Saving me from the tip I'd have to drag myself back, Back up to my desk And by the time I reached it, I would have to rest! But now, my floor is stable Does not have a tilt And the whole thing is carpeted And hangs on like a nice, thick quilt So now, when I reach for that paper clip Each and every day, My chair stays, it does not slip-- I no longer rollaway! enjoyed, however, I have to admit I was thinking about a "Walter Mitty" trip in that rollaway scene and was also thinking that the absence of it ever occurring again might be kind of sad...am I right? glad your floor's more stable though, a good foundation is important Virginia |

Actually, it was quite the pain in the butt, though funny...I might miss it's distraction when I'm having trouble at the computer! ShannonM |

Amusing when read literally; profound if considered metaphorically... -MVS "When you tell the Truth, you never have to remember what you just said." |

Hi Shannon, I loved this! Very delightful, but I'm guessing there's something deep in this poem. I think I'll read it again. Thanks for sharing, I look forward to reading all your posts. -Samia |

(giggling profusely)...I wonder why it is in my office they put these little plastic things under our chairs? I think they knew the end result, I just know someday I'll keep on rolling out the door still in my chair! Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind... |
