The Gift By Dan Owens A man walking In an imperfect world Finds himself imperfect The seeds of defeat Are sown below him The joy of his dreams Lies within his view On the horizon If he lowers himself Into self pity He warms the seeds They grow quickly Into vines That can entrap him If he fights his way up And dusts himself off Then takes a look at the horizon He finds that his dreams Have become much clearer And closer to him He begins to believe In himself And in so doing He realizes That he has found The gift of wisdom Throw your heart out in front of you |

Shadow~ 'If he lowers himself Into self pity He warms the seeds They grow quickly Into vines That can entrap him' What a gem of wisdom you've written and shared. Thank you for your perspective. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

I like how in the third stanza the lines go off to the side. . . showing what happens when we find those vines. . . a lesson told well here. . . ---------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Sounds accurate to me, Dan. Creatively digestable analogies, too. -MVS "When you tell the Truth, you never have to remember what you just said." |
