Waking up to the sound of rain not a clock. I get up and look out the window. Sitting in my corner of my little girl world, The rain slowly starts to fall. First slow, then fast. The only sound I can hear, Is the sound of the rain, Going pitter-patter on the roof. It's such a calming sound. The sun tries to peak through the clouds, But the dark black clouds push it back in. Haven’t seen the sun since yesterday. I wonder if there will be a rainbow. The rain slowly starts to pick up I sit back and relax, As I lay in bed my mind starts to wander. What ever happened to that boy next door? Did he move away, did he run away? Haven’t seen him in years. I can't help to wonder if he is thinking of me. The storm is not yet over. What is there to do, on a rainy day like this? I sit and try to write and nothing starts to flow. Papers balled up on the floor, Every one of them didn’t get published, Nothing made the cut. The sun tries to peak out of the clouds again. But it’s still sprinkling. As I look up to the sky a colorful rainbow lights the morning sky. The whole thing, not just one piece. In my mind I follow the rainbow, But there is no pot of gold. A flash of lighting has brought me back to the real world. After that sight, This poem came about.
