Its petals blushing slightly pink, a lovely, graceful scene. The flower caught the iris of my ever wandering eye As summer rain had lightly brushed the blossom's petaled dream. The single barren tree, standing isolated there Its bark so boldy carved with scars that told of passing time A rust had formed along the branches, painted silently with care As patience roamed within its roots, a wisdom never dared. A butterfly haped to fly on by, a silly little thing That twirled and whirled along a trail that dotted little paths. It saw the flower blooming, and I thought I heard it sing As I watched it land, the song was hushed by its softly beating wings. I crept towards the lonely tree, a selfish hidden thought Had opened up my mind to a world that Eve had seen. The butterfly had flown away, my shadow lay distraught As I plucked the only friend that the tree had ever sought. Within my hands, I watched it wilt A dying form now lay I was overcome by grief, by guilt Because of selfish ways. The tree remained, a proof that I had taken all away Its friend, its hope, its love and dreams Were now a faded grey. I turned around to see what I had done so foolishly, it seemed, But laying there, another flower had blossomed full of life Its petals blushing slightly red, a lovely, graceful scene As winter ice had lightly brushed the blossom's petaled dream. Beauty comes and beauty goes, forever this will be But nothing will, and nothing can Take away your dreams. A friend will come, a friend will go, forever this will be But the beauty of a friendship will Stay with you and me. ![]() + + + + + Steve-bob got restless as I wrote this. Figures. *shakes head* Anyways...besides the last little bit of the poem that tells you what it's all about, there is a vague symbolism between the tree, the cherry blossom, the butterfly, and the speaker. Can you figure it out? *FIND WALDO!!!* *ahem* Anyways... We are coming to an end... ++ Leah ++ Va pensiero sull' ali dorate... [This message has been edited by chasing rain (edited 12-06-2001).] |

Wow Leah!! You are getting better each and every single day. There is so much symbolism in this piece picking out one single part is too hard. I can't believe this has no replies!!! ![]() The imagery in this is breathtaking. Seriously, you exceed any expectations I hold of you. No more expectations then. ![]() Thanks for the read. Remember to post MORE. MORE!!!! ~AF~ Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant? I'm halfway through my fish burger and I realize, Oh my gosh....I could be eating a slow learner. |

I love symbolism and I use it like a fiend so of course I definitely enjoyed reading this. I really, really liked this poem. Just with all the symbolism and imagery and depth... thank you very much for sharing. The only thing that I fear is to die quietly. |

Leah...just pure wowish...your one of the most beautiful imagery writers i've read by far...you write SO delicately and all written amazingly sewn with care...LOVED this piece... "A butterfly haped to fly on by, a silly little thing That twirled and whirled along a trail that dotted little paths." that remined me of times when i was coming back from school and just admiring the butterfly i see [sometimes] through a little park [meadow area]. ![]() Hey...#25437 |
