In a moldering stink of decay, the earth reaches for the kiss of the sun. Gasping for air like some aging smoker, its lungs call out bleakly; mute and unable to pump the bellows of something as old as time and God and the stars. We haven't been a lover deserving of the breast where rests our heads. A comely maiden of virtue and innocence, the earth has become an aging, painted, paved old tart. Men in offices of splendor trade her favors for the love of gold. All the wonders that was, are no more. She - too tired to raise up from the brutal caress of men. What will they take when she has no more to give? Will she be tossed away, a used up harridan, praying for the mercy that it is not within men to give. Poisoned. Ruined. In time so vast as to stun the imaginings, she grew. Exploded into life, fecund and verdant. Age and eternity become silly skirted words when speaking of her. With a rapacious suck and swipe, men have drilled her, mined her, defoliated her and breathed the stink of death into her nostrils and she will die. It will be an ugly death, full of sobs and sorrow, screams of despair. She will rise up against her bed-linens to claw the moments of her hateful death. Blood of saints and simmers fill her veins. She has taken the body of Jesus and laid it to rest in her soil. Klaus Barbie. Gandhi. Hitler. Mother Teresa…all a part of the very air we breath. The waters of life surge with the mighty and maniacal. The butchers and the beloved, rendered back to primordial dust, all. There will be no melodramatic miracle this time. The seas will boil the flesh from the bones of those who put their energy and might into the love of money. Power…Destruction. What if nothing if it isn't something? What is substance without soul? Shall the ages see the drifting dust of all those tomorrows? There will be no eyes left to count the dead. |

MY, gosh, have you ever hit the nail-on-the-head. Man is great at destroying. For some reason they think everything will last forever. After all of the mistakes, you would think they could learn. Where will it all end? ME |
