The mind wanders aimlessly back to youthful days, When lust and love blended, With trust and friendship. New love turned over a couple of years, And there was never a drought, Only that sudden stop at the end, Like someone turning off the faucet of life, And then the spiraling dizzy fall of faith. In moments remembered, eyes and tongue adored alike, As did the heart in zealously driven moments. That special blend of love and hormones, That awakening spice of young love. But then there was that ending, Like somone turned off the faucet of life, And there was a spiraling dizzy fall of faith. Now moments spread like infectious smiles, Touching the heart while remembering, The delight of being adored, The great moment of having a poem dedicated, Along with a long rambling account, Of how beautiful the night before was. But now, Someone long ago turned off the faucet of that life, And the dizzy downward spiral is a hard fall, That has yet to end, And I'm loosing my faith more every day. And I recall words I have writen before, "It isn't him, but that state of mind I'm missing." Or perhaps, I've just become the mistress of foolery, For my doubtful heart. |

This makes me feel sad, but it does have a sense of hope.. the lines that stands out the most is "It isn't him, but that state of mind I'm missing." This strikes me as something all marriages go through.. I have seen that place in my own marriage.. rekindling is an on going process.. and that fire like the ocean ebbs and flows.. sometimes the embers can only be seen in the darkness, and sometimes it takes a windstorm to bring them to life. Best wishes.. friend |

you know. . . for me, it's always been that. . . I miss those days. . . well done. . . and full of your heart. . . ---------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

i agree with Songbird, the line "It is isn't but the state of mind I'm missing", keeps the person in a stagnant spot. That feeling would exist, once the pain heals. There is a lot of hope in your poem, and I enjoyed the writing, it was excellent. ~*~ I write ~ Therefore I am ~*~ |
