*just venting a little about a situation someone close to me is going through ... ~*~ Legacy of the Damned Beneath the surface, deep within, Beyond the armor of the skin, An undercurrent seethes and cries, For those whom you have compromised. A legacy of dark despair, Consumes the lives you claim to share, A world you fostered from the start, Through lack of love, and hard of heart. Immune to reason, logic lost, While those around you pay the cost, Manipulations schemed and planned, Through words and actions of the damned. Oblivious to haunting trials, You sit in righteous, calm denial, Impervious, you hold no shame, Excuse yourself from want of blame. I wonder if you comprehend The lives you touch, the minds you bend, Though tears are dry, and long since wept, The scars remain … the memories kept. /Kit McCallum [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (edited 06-01-2001).] |

Kit~ I know a few who could stand to read this...such a shame that those that hurt others the most never seem to realize that they do...excellent writing Kit, you have captured the true essence of the selfish heart well..and all the pain they cause~ |

Oh, Kit~ This is one I wish to keep ... May our words never cause the tears another weeps. This is so tenderly emotive. Thank you for sharing, sweet poetess. Your friend is fortunate, indeed. *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

A legacy of dark despair, Consumes the lives you claim to share, ========================= I wonder if you comprehend The lives you touch, the minds you bend, Though tears are dry, and long since wept, The scars remain … the memories kept. =========================== Kit those above lines say it all for me... and you have written this with a powerful and haunting pen of reality. You've captured the anger and fear that comes from this kind of situation... and yes.....the scars remain long after the abuse ends. This one hits home for me, as I grew up in similar circumstance ... those your write of here have my empathy, and prayers. Outstanding emotive write Kit... look at all the emotion you've evoked from us... proof of a gifted pen. take care sweet poetess Kit-gator jm I'm hanging on your every word |

You certainly went on to elaborate on the title. "Oblivious to haunting trials, You sit in righteous, calm denial, Impervious, you hold no shame, Excuse yourself from want of blame." This verse stuck in my mind. I love the cutting nature of these words, very descript and intense! Great writing my fellow Canuck! |

From the first word of the title to the closing period, this is incredible writing of powerful emotions, Kit. The last verse is one that will haunt. *S* |

Kit, you write far too little...but this one is a shining example of words written from your heart. Truly wonderful. |

Butterflies, Sy, Marge, JM, Ethome, James, Susan, Kathleen, Brian, Serenity, Poeminister, Michael, Watersign, Suthern, Michael and Sharon ... Thank you so very much for all of your supportive and wonderful comments. It can indeed be a very frustrating situation for those who live through it, and thank you so much for letting me vent ... I'm very grateful to each of you for your kind comments. I also apologize that I'm sure I've missed many wonderful poems that I haven't been able to respond to over the last little while, and that I can't respond to everyone individually today. I promise to try to catch up as best as I can if my schedule lets up (hopefully soon). Much appreciation to all, /Kit [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (edited 06-02-2001).] |
