Illusive Reasoning In slow, painful steps, I attempt to capture images of life by means of quill and ink. Every expression, each line is a struggle, a search for the unexpected to replace my dull orientation. I write nearly every day, on lunch breaks, in the evenings while the kids play (and fight), after they’ve gone to bed if I have can keep from falling asleep mid-sentence. I’m aware of fragmented phrasing, and thoughts twisted into awkward order, as if synapses are falling short of connection. In my estimation, something isn’t quite right in my brain, maybe my mother dieted too much when she was pregnant, or maybe I did things when I was younger that depleted gray matter, but the resulting gridlock appears permanent. © 2001 Corinne Bailey |

We all have those days, but it's perfectly apparent from this poem that you haven't lost it. Joyce |

hi cor, wow, a new twist on on writing about not writing, i love it. I can really identify with this, especially the part about the kids. Oh, and there is definately nothing wrong with your grey matter. |

Oh I don't think so, Corinne. And pay attention to "something isn't quite right in my brain". Perhaps that is your source. Keep writing, it is your answer. |

Cor.... Come bend a comma on the wind, And in the pause Begin again That passage youth once longed to make. Tack! Come about! There are not ruts here on the lake. I agree with Temptress. You've captured frustration wonderfully. Bob |

I'll never stop writing either, and I identified with every word...we just keep writing and typing and loving it! |

Every expression, each line is a struggle, a search for the unexpected to replace my dull orientation. Corrine, i find this very hard to believe. THough I know about feeling the lack of grey matter and as far I can see you have no worries in that department. enjoyed the read "difference between love and comfortis that comfort's more reliable and true |

Thank you all for your kind words. I always feel safe posting all of my work here, good and bad, because I know the people in this forum are focused on encouraging others rather than taking them down. I suppose I'm having an attack of "why bother?" When I don't feel as though I am progressing... Thanks again, means a lot to me. Corinne |

I think this why bother mood is your inspiration, you have managed to create a great write from it and I enjoyed it very much. Regards, Olias. |

Corinne~ 'I suppose I'm having an attack of "why bother?" When I don't feel as though I am progressing...' Do me a favor, will you ? Continue to 'B O T H E R' me !
