This was written about a lady in, likely her 80's or 90's who was out working in her yard with seemingly more stamina than I. It was written last year...maybe that's why, finally, this year my yard is in better shape than over the last 3 years or more. It stayed in better shape when my mother lived here, but she died over 3 yrs. ago, now. Lady Blue-Bonnet Virginia Salter lady blue-bonnet perched with cane still supplies life-giving water to her quaint domain flowers flourish color life as I walk by greet the day with sunny smiles as she smiles at me when I return to pass again she’s no longer standing but on bended knee she digs the soil removing weeds that dare to try sneaking past her eagle’s eye this time I do not speak for I’m in awe, somewhat ashamed of how I suffer in like endeavor for I am younger than she, yet will not endure such misery © July 14, 2000 |

Little moments such as this one can go a long way in inspiring us if we but choose to appreciate them... -MVS "If you think you know it all, you have a lot to learn." |
