Footsteps in gray-green ponder perhaps because, no, as milestones approach there is no treading lightly in fear, nor any need to shake rafters with footsteps, unless with joy… but imperative, regardless, that each footfall still be one before the other, lift then place, always moving ahead only thinking back momentarily in a blink or wink maybe a quick shuffle side to side, if you choose to dance a little look back, then, only to learn from mistakes not to rue them, the toll has already been paid, not to misconstrue them, even when truth hurts, just to learn play a bit harbor hearts be thin once again, in all burdens in stepping forward, taking only the baggage necessary, please, and know that because of all that is past, all my footsteps forever lead toward you, so that is enough, for now, come, my dear, come, match steps with me, link arms, let our used, bemused skin touch, for I am still warm you are still warm our skin now softer than when taut even though you wore gorgeous beautifully, I only saw my beauty in your eyes, so come, our stride measured, treasured, each footfall shall even now be one before the other, lift then place, always moving ahead as we put our pasts behind us, and move on, toward our tomorrows… together, weathered, seasoned, blessed, one step at a time. |
