I Am Portulaca
Virginia Salter

Early summer morn
you’ll find me
face to the sun
arms reaching
stealing every ray
that beams its love within reach
pulling in the vitamins
pulling in life

by midday,
fully agape drinking ground’s moisture
lapping at the sunshine
smiling joy from petal to petal
entranced in the glow

yet as the warm moves up
to greater heights and goals
I begin to draw in each petal
as if heading for the shoal
pulling each atop my head
sheltering inside
cringing for the cool
away from summer’s tide

I love portulaca...good description of what I know of you too...It's a happy, sun-loving plant, hardy and bloom profusely. Perfect comparison!

Wow, Serenity, I'd had looked at that aspect at all, it is kind of nice to think of me blooming profusely instead of being totally too prolific with my poetry.  Thanks for thinking that way.
