The church in which I kneel lacks marble floors, no mortised wood, framed steel, enormous doors. It's service knows not hours nor proper dress, the rafters are the bowered grotto's recess. No walls aligned with the station's cross, not needed to remind us of our loss. The pulpit's empty, silent sermonless. Just quiet time spent man to God confess. No favored pews nor committeed bulletins, guilt laden news of just how much and when. An ageless rock it's alter inviolate. No fear of jealous cult or reprobate. Genuflection's here soft needled pine. No distractions to steer from the Divine. From choir loft the sweetest music heard, ignored so oft' it's members, genus bird. The frescoed ceiling's more beauty than man's allowed, swirled, freewheeling light and darkened cloud. Innumerable it's steeples and it's spires. Accessing all His people awe inspire, For they are the mountains and the trees, no edifice would surmount nor more God please. The tranquil evidence of His good hand, wind's sweet intercedence o'er all the land. The baptistery's off shore sea, pond, lake, river. These fonts are pure and from His rain deliver, as sacrosanct a blessing we'll ever need. Diverse secularism's messing with His creed. If you're under stellar skies and in this sweet world's hold, then all other "truths" are lies, You're in His fold. |

When one looks to their "outside" world... we see all that He and Heaven allows... well done, Sir for this is where I pray, too... |

lovely! i personally feel too many people get wraped up in the rules and regs of church going and forget the truth the world is his creation you dont need to be front row of a church to talk to god he is all around the world around us gives us many lessons if only we take time to look and learn zzzz |

Didn't Jesus himself, somewhere, sometime, say, "My body is my temple"? Isn't most Eastern philosophy all about meditation and "looking within"? You speak a wonderful truth here, R.S., and in a colorful presentation, too. Perhaps the basket should be passed around to feed the homeless... -MVS "If you think you know it all, you have a lot to learn." |

Lovely, Richard. We all know it's what in our hearts that really matters, not how many services we attend. Well done. All writing comes |

This poem has a very Druid quality, with the exception of praying to Mother Earth...and I say that as a compliment. Very excellent writing. I like your church very much.... |

I've always felt that the building we worship in should not be considered the ONLY place to find God. I would rather sit in a forest and find Him than wait in a pew forever.. |
