Listening to every heart

Exodus Revisited – Part One

advances, which transformed
lives by transfers
mandated
“position, security, dead ahead”
so we followed
where he was led

[should have listened ~
solemn word, “dead”]

which led and channeled and primed

future’s growth?  who’s?

theirs….

lowbased economics
(dirty 30’s revised)
backstabbed plans
[thought we were ‘80’s wise]
he, thinking I thought
CA, still promised land
attempted and tried
with birds in hand,
searched, but restrictions
rejected, denied,
hell bent against him

age

wage

knowledge

blackballed at forty-six

~*~

“let’s go home…”

~*~

my life had disappeared
as my childhood had,
‘neath smog, roadhogs
and 50’s glad
had passed away
long ago,
dad had died
what
to keep tied
memories were
in my head
so we said

where to be, instead…

we followed
where economics led

and led and led and led

how to transport
without transition of position
a do-it-yourself venture
guaranteed…

search your mind to
find your needs

unlike the Joads
we were
to spend
summer in transit
go back to when

follow trails that all led west
now east,
the course was best
with less

sell and sales of treasured
keep
you don’t
treasure treasures?
I still weep
over a few of have to go
possessions
hope those owners
haven’t lessened
in their keep
of what was ours

nevermind…

nevermind

rented trailer, rented tow
motorhome and kids to go
pack it up then pack it in
[sold too much,
we’re “full to load” thin]
don’t forget
dog and cat
pause to chat
with friends who came
those we still name

good

good friends

waved us on,

heard tears on wind

facing the future,

yet again

[to be continued]

All of life is a series of changes. It only matters how we stand up to them. Believe me, I know. The important thing is, I also know you have the strength to carry it forward on that quest...gentle smile, Sissie

Gads, Karilea!  This poem is so sad.  There is not one feeling of hope left in here, except the "to be continued" at the end.  The poem was very well written.  It touches deep emotions, and touching is what it's all about, isn't it?  Well done, Karilea.

Karilea, wow the price of happiness....

And where are we off to now?  Ifelt sorry about the treasures, and yes, you do treasure treasures!  Forward, I am right behind you and loving the trip.

If I have made you smile today, then I have done my job!    ~* Mysteria *~
