I Promise

Dad I don't know exactly
what kind of life you had.
Because I could never
look into your head.
But I seem to recall
that you were perhaps
overwhelmed by it all.
Seven kids can be a blessing it's true
but financially the burden was all on you.
I believe you tried your best
with every resource you possessed.
And even though I didn't feel
your love when you were alive
I feel love for you now.
You will always be my Dad.
Now and forever.
I promise.

Resolution is a good thing.  Succinctly stated, as usual.  Well done.

James,

If he was anything like my own father then I am sure he really was overwhelmed and very tired.  I have twelves brothers and sisters, so all my father did was work.   Take care and thank you for reminding me of a father's special kind of love.

Wonderful tribute James and a great respect for your hard working Dad.
Believe me if he didn't love you he would have been on down the road like some of these other selfish fools that leave their children. It sounds to me like he was a very busy man because he had to be....Great poem!

Beautiful, my dad was overworked and underpaid and we hardly saw him when we were growing up. But I'm so lucky that now that he's retired for the past 7 years he lives with me,I love it.
