Father, my statue, Standing above, Admiration from me, I give you my love, Father, you broke, The perpetual lock, Our family is broken, A heart breaking knock, Father, the pokies? The need for a brew? My statue has crumbled, I really needed you, Father, it’s been months, We still haven’t spoken, This nightmare keeps burning, Will I ever be woken? Father, you’re sorry? It’s far too late now, You’re going to change? I just don’t see how… Father, you’ve changed, You stopped making bets, You trained, ran a marathon, Payed off all your debts, Father, not a drink? Not a sip in two years? I admire your courage, It blows away my tears, Father, my statue, It’s coming back together, I am so proud of you, You are stronger than ever. * This poem is deticated to my father and is about when my parents broke up. He changed in a way that i didnt think was possible. He ran a marathon last week which i ran the last 5km with him. Im proud of you dad. |
