Virginia Salter She bought a can of poetic took it home in a sack Decided she could get it out when her brain was facing lack She hadn’t long to wait, just a few days, no more, Before she needed to slip open the lid and seek the score. Gripping it for all her worth twisting with her might She peered in to the depth of it it was an awesome sight. Picking up the sponge facing the canvas of her page She began her masterpiece spreading words quite sage. Wax on, wax off, with each stroke of her ‘brush’ The breezes were silent as she scribbled in the hush. Waxing poetic had never been so grand Beauty unfolded with each stroke of her hand. I’d tell you the store where she found this tin of gold, But then, would you still marvel at what her tin did hold? © June 24, 2001 [This message has been edited by VAS (edited 06-24-2001).] |
