Who am I?
Am I the cover you first see?
The one with guard held high
Am I the cold sarcastic man?
Contempt in all reply
Or is there more to words
In truth I won't deny
For I have many layers
Each deeper than the last
some yet to have been opened
Some stripped from all that's past
Until I have revealed them
I come across as coy
Encircled in the wording game
I play with as a toy
Take the time look closer
Beyond the open line
Revealing subtle secrets
Only found by time
Who are you was asked me
It changes with each day
Beyond the casted shadow
Contained in all I say
Look not at what I'm telling
but intentions that are shown
beneath the cloud I'm selling
And then you'll truly know
Who Am I?

That is a question which I often ask myself. I look in the mirror at different moods, when I'm angry or sad..well, you get the idea.

This is really good work
And I too ask myself this question
all the time
I wear so many diff. hats
as life demands
well....
Thanks

across the land of dreams. In your heart, I'd always be.

too complex to even understand ourselves.

You have put it so well.......

Thank you for sharing it..

I've read this several times. I'll probably read it a few more times than is healthy--it's that good.

Nice work, see a LOT of myself in your verses here

Strive for higher levels, if they seem out of reach... Grow, and they will get closer.
