I have walked among stars
stealing diamonds to toss into the sea.
I have wandered lush green country
walking with beauty as my only purpose.

Then my country whispered -
only our spirits spoke –
each with his own voice:
you could lean into quiet.

My eyes have fallen dim,
my mouth is dumb, my ears
are deaf. No longer do I teach,
although there is much to learn.

Each grain of sand has memory
and becomes history. Children
come to this place knowing nothing,
elders leave forgetting all things.

This earth requires a lifetime of healing.

Julian, I found this poem to be touching, on a spiritual level.  It made me contemplate the wisdom of your message.  I especially liked the phrase "Children come to this place knowing nothing, elders leave forgetting all things."  Nice imagery too.

"If you think you know it all, you have a lot to learn."

"Everyone can hear;  few can listen."

Julian~
How ponderous~

'Each grain of sand has memory
and becomes history. Children
come to this place knowing nothing,
elders leave forgetting all things.

This earth requires a lifetime of healing.'

Simply put ... stunningly meditative.
Thank you.
