My mother's husband died on Sunday
it was father's day which is rather odd
He was not a father to anyone
he was a stalker of young children
including my sisters, a vicous man
But she stayed, god knows why
I begged her to leave him over 15 years ago
but who listens to a 15 year old daughter?

As he got old, I wondered if he would ever
apologize or admit to the horrible things he
has done to my family. But he did not.

The irony is this

Today is my mother's birthday
and he is being cremated today.

I think on this day.. my mother
will really be born
Free and on her own for the first time
in her life, like an 18 year old.
Scared and confused but freedom breathes
life into you.

So I hope, Dear Mom, to wish you
a truly happy

BIRTH ........ DAY

(she'll never read this, but I wanted to tell someone cus I know there are other women out there who are released from their bondage by death and it's a confusing mixture of sadness and relief.)

Thanks for listening my friends.

Everyone enriches this world, Red...some by entering it...others by leaving it. Sounds like you have them both there. I wish her well....
