I Can’t Promise

I can’t promise that I’ll be forever faithful to you
I can’t vow that I’ll be eternally only yours it’s true
None of us knows our fate or what will come to be
I don’t know if my love will flow ever on constantly
Or if like a butterfly I will lightly fly off once again
Never resting long never letting my heart feel pain
But for this one moment, this one time and place
I can say that I looked at love and saw it in your face

I can’t promise that my heart won’t ever break free
I can’t vow that I’ll stay with you forever contentedly
It’s not for me to know what my future holds in store
I don’t know if I will be here with you for evermore
Like a breeze that gives a breath of air on a hot day
I might wander away from you or I might just stay
But for this time you have me here lying beside you
I can say that these words and my deeds are now true

I can’t promise that I’ll never want to wander away
I can’t vow that my heart won’t want to go and play
I can’t foretell my fortune or read my ultimate destiny
To declare that you are the one is not in my ability
As a wave brushes the shore with it’s fleeting caress
Flowing in and then retreating never pausing to rest
But for this instance my touch is against your skin
I can say that you stir my fire that burns here within

I can’t promise that by your side I’ll always ever be
I can’t vow that I won’t stay with you only fleetingly
It’s not for me to say that the future holds for me this
That I’ll never wish for another’s touch or their kiss
Just as a cloud that is ethereal and insubstantial as air
Floats in the sky and then is suddenly no longer there
But for now I'm here and you can bathe in my song
I can say that with you right now is where I belong

Only a memory of the same

I really like this one Mushy!

"But for now I'm here and you can bathe in my song
I can say that with you right now is where I belong."

If you can't promise all those things then these lines are the way to think....very good!!

Oh .... so honestly portrayed.

I enjoyed it all .... knowing you as I do ...
but this line .... oh, this line

'As a wave brushes the shore with it’s fleeting caress
Flowing in and then retreating never pausing to rest'

Yes .... as quickly as it kisses the shore -
it returns from whence it came ...
LOVERLY !
I'm adding it to my Swipe-A-Thought file.
Sweet Hugs~
