The Young to Very Old At times feeling like I don't understand, this patriotic measure close at hand... A man, A gun, A war ensues... Seems a patheticly saddened way to pay our dues. Family times held close at memories insistance, While spouse is forced to love from a distance... A letter, A poem, A forever love you... Catches tears prematurely through desired hue. Devotedly brave are the many that today we salute, As everyday this country is blessed with new recruits... A soldier, A hero, A life on hold... To honor and protect us... The young to very old. Sometimes we have to follow a stronger voice, even if it's silent. |

The price that is paid to maintain our freedom is very high. God bless them all. Great tribute, Gloria, and so nice to see you again! |

Oh, Ria...I'm so glad I had a chance to read this beautiful poem! You have said it so well, the terrible price that was paid for our freedom. Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

excellent. . . but still. . . the price that must be paid. . . too high?? perhaps. . . but then, where would we be today without that payment?? well done. . . -------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

many have died in the name of progress, and while I do not argee with the measures often taken in those times never the less the poem is a fitting tribute to those who laid down their lives for our way of life. "across the unfair divide |
