Sitting on the steps, shaded by the old oak tree, my feelings tingled with memories of you and me. Watching the dogs run around so free, bold and happy as they could be. I envisioned us, as we were back when, carefree and laughing, we had always been. The years came and dropped like the falling leaves, Children, parents and more responsibilities. Carefree left, laugher became less, when more and more turned into a mess. Thinking of how you were always my strong arm, even when losing the family farm. Never a complaint ever past your lips, I always felt your love in gentle fingertips. Although the years have passed us by, I knew our love was ever a strong tie. Maybe we missed a lot out of life, but we managed the years without any strife. All of this, I can plainly see, But sometimes I wish, we were still carefree. Not to be young with all that pain, yet wanting enough to still walk in the rain. All these thoughts, I had in me, Sitting on the steps, shaded by the old oak tree. |

Sigh..I would go back if I could. It seems that it was better, even when there were problems. Very nice walk down memory lane. Sandra |
