Tired and sore, The Honky Tonk was At least warm and the stool, Softer that the old saddle I kept swearing I would replace But didn’t, Mainly because I had ridden in it Too long to think about breaking in A new one… Not much crowd, The snow seemed to have kept All the part time wannabe’s at home, So only the hard-core swillers, And those, who like me had No reason to care about the snow, Were there Looking around it was easy to see That I probably should have Just jumped into bed, After I showered. She walked in about 9:30 And gave the room a quick glance Before settling on a stool About 4 over from me. Lord, That bed looked better All the time… Sometimes waking up alone Is the best thing That can ever happen Too bad I don’t listen To my own advice She came over and introduced herself. Iambe is my name and do you dance? Taking another look at her, I knew I was in trouble, but all I could do was answer "No." She laughed When I woke up this morning She was there... We didn't dance to music but she swore she could teach me. Teach me she did, But I still Don't dance. |

What Iambe Taught me Iambe’s Lesson Iambe had tried On many occasions To teach me to dance. I never could master The idea Of the music moving Me the way it did her. All I ever got out of it Was sore shins from Her kicking me When I would step On a foot Or stumble And knock into her I did learn from her though. She taught me that night If abandon was embraced Was for more than sleeping, That lace, Was just as seductive Under overalls As a dress. And most of all She taught me that hearts Are both Tough as old leather And as fragile as eggshells Just depends on how you Handle them |

Ahem. Should you ever come back to see if she still lives... she does. Because I've introduced her to others, just to see how the "family" grew... we miss you. A lot. |
