they played this song at my high school graduation:

never knew why,
didn't seem to fit the theme.
until i really listened.
and now, a weird poem (my specialty!)

everyone's a rose.
we all have strengths,
we all have weaknesses.

everyone's beautiful,
and everyone has their thorns.
but some never get past those.

worse yet, sometimes, we never see past our own thorns.
we'd like to be one way,
but we've only ever known another.

this is the kind of stuff that keeps you up when no one's around.
the stuff you see in a mirror,
staring (at last) into your own eyes.

when i climb up on the soapbox,
i'll hand out mirrors.
because we can't really see anyone else,
until we see ourselves...tom

I think I was able to follow this all the way through....I tried. I rushed in and looked in the mirror and I came back out and replied...I should be alright now....I think. Very interesting write, I enjoyed looking at it from that perspective!
