My arms will not reach
From here to heavens loft
And I can not touch the
Beauty of their light nor
the wonder of you.
For my arms will not reach

My eyes can not see
From here to tomorrow
Though my heart would
Know what time’s passing
Vision for each beat of
Life could be… but
My eyes can not see

My mind can not know
The wisdom of loving you
For it is human, and unable
To grasp and hold a concept
That is infinite in possibilities
That my mind can not know

My heart can not lie
For the tongue of love has
Formed words of caring
And they have passed the lips
Of my soul to float on hope
As they search for you, knowing
My heart can not lie

Oh, captain, my captain...my first thoughts were that these words were for a mortal who'd passed on...the latter portion of the poem...and then the 2nd read through increased the moisture in my eyes and called out these words to say to you...

then let His arms reach out for you, for they ARE long enough

I do so love this poem and must place it in my favorites, please!
