Book Of Secrets

(v1.)
Written on 1000 lonely nights
Pages of ink filled by
the glow of 1000 candle lights
Shadows flickering
across my writing hands
1000 thoughts flickering
across my sight

(Chorus)
As I fill my book of secrets
with all my thoughts of you
dreams of yesterdays long since gone
and nightmares that have come true
Tears of sorrow blur my pen
because I know we’re through
Would things have been different
if you only knew
what is written in my book of secrets

(v2.)
1000 words tell the fears
Line upon line of 1000 changes
between us over the years
Letters spelling out
the contents of my soul
My undying love for you
is written here

(v3.)
1000 days since I’ve been gone
You find this book
during the sunset of our lives
when the shadows are long
Will you read these 1000
secret pages
and wonder if you were wrong?

nakdthoughts,

Thank you, that verse is actually the core of what I'm trying to say; I'm glad you like it. :-)

Jeff, this speaks to me in so many ways. . . I know where this is coming from. . . totally. . . but sometimes, our Secret books are never meant to be read by those we want to read them. . .

great job. . .

zzz,
Cool name! lol Thanks for your compliments, glad you liked it!

Sven,
Yes, there are some times when Secrets are best left unsaid but when one is watching his marriage of many years fall to pieces because of years of no communication, there shouldn't be any Secrets. I wish she'd "read the book" but I know it's too late. Thanks for the kind words, my friend,
                          :-) Jeff

I can hear you, especially if there are secrets that weren't supposed to be secrets it all, but hard to share when communication is the treshold. heartfelt write.

Very nice. Like the title very much as well.

my only goal

This poem says a lot about what's really in your heart.  The problem, Jeff, is that she will never know if you don't take the time to tell her.

Take me as I am or watch me as I go

Paula,
I'd like to hear me singing it too! lol In front of thousands of people and making the big $$$! Yes, it is like a diary. After keeping its contents a mystery, I finally want someone to read it from cover to cover and learn my "secrets". Good observation; glad you enjoyed it!

Ethome,
Cute response! lol Thanks for the compliment.

Charisma,
Its ironic that communication can be such a barrier when you're trying to express your true feelings to someone. I never intended to have any "secrets"; they became "hidden" because of lack of communication.

Angelbear,
Cute name! I'm glad you like the title; it's kinda prophetic as it actually  describes a book that I am working on that deals with the truth and the revealing of secrets.

Thank you James :-)

Tara,
It is so comforting to see your name grace my poetry once more! lol Yes, this poem does say a lot of what's in my heart. The problem isn't my inability to tell her my true feelings though, it's her inability to either listen or understand. I've written a letter to you detailing this further. You may also want to look at a post I placed in the Discussions/Feelings forum. You should recognize the piece and it also touches upon what this poem talks about.

dgvarner,
Although normally I'm one to relish the present and not worry about the future, this is definitely one of those times when I wish I could know the outcome. Thank you for your kind words.   I've missed talking to you too   Dang job keeps getting in the way of more important things like - chatting online! lol I'll email you soon and try to catch you on ICQ as well

*sigh* I don't know how much of your work I've read in the past,  but this one surely is amazing. I love this!
