Melancholy Midnight

I cannot help but wonder

What your evening has been
tales of long forgotten
inspired words pouring
from within

So little time
each night another rhyme to
stave away the black fading far
away I know the moment fading

far far too well in it I wonder
and seek the mirrors eye uncalmed
just what have I become the mirror laughs
with glee still I ask what road do I walk upon

Others are finding haven in
sleep and dreams to light the all encompassing
black which eats the soul you wake to, to touch
warmth of lovers familiar embrace just one and I

Student of the world and life
watch in wonder as I too remember
what life, living was like and I see your words
and recall when truth was truth and none could deny

Yes I am the
night awaiting the sun
its starkness tossing shadows Within I can
live and die unnoticed, undefined, unknowing, undone
