There are visions in the searing sun, Thought abstractions; minds becoming undone. Horizons dissolve, in this lucidity our skin shimmers stroked by paroxysmal vitality. Archaic instinct now awakens. Driving deeper into the gutted valley, We bid farewell to laws and reason. These poisons reserve no hold on our adopted family. A car can be built from scratch in the same way a person can. At Charles' feet we roll our grass as he strums a tune of truth, making good for our "fake families" failure. They led us on the rise to fall! The stoned summer shifts to an autumn of death, Vietnam rages a media sensation. With "War" scrawled in blood we bit the bullet of patriotism a cadaver scattered in death valley, pays the price for disloyalty. Through the rafters restless spirits moan, paleness will hang there though I swear I never saw that happening, From the Helther Skelther, Susan Attkins screams murder bloody murder. We drove to the edge of a Sick City night YOU all wear an X between your eyes! the house of attrition lay in wait, drawing curtains on Sharon Tate. ============= 06/june/01 "Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life". Terry Pratchett [This message has been edited by brian madden (edited 06-06-2001).] |

Ah, you answered your own challenge, read the book, created the poetry.... but it does bring back some terrible scenes of decades past.... an excellent job, Bri....excellent.... |

Decaflame, it is not a response to my turn a book into a poem challenge. NO I was inspired by a documentary program I saw. Thanks for your very kind words. Jan, I think people were (I know I am) fascinated by the powerful he held over people. Thanks for your always very generous praise and continous reading of my musings no matter where they lead. THere are certain things that even poetry can not heal. Sudhir, phew... both me and my ego are blushing. Thank you for very very kind words. "Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life". Terry Pratchett |
