a brand new branch has sprouted
upon our family tree
a time of joy and happiness
but not alas for me

friends,a night of passion
then on to pastures new
none of them expecting
the arrival of you

confusion and much panic
i saw in both their eyes
both too young for looking
into a babies eyes

making a disision
as friends to stand together
to raise this child apart
as father and as mother

how were we to guess
the secret to be learned
at your first gasp of breath
the bridges would be burned

two visits,just two hours
is all we had with you
a harsh and cruel thing
to stop us seeing you

so now the fight begins
for rights for us to share
your life with all its dreams
