The Way You Do My heart beats like the cooing of a dove Softly in the trembling arms of love Quietly as kitten’s soothing purr Murmuring beneath her warming fur But when you kiss my lips in just that way My heart pounds like the mighty ocean waves I’m as calm as quiet waters of a lake With little ripples summer breezes make I’m as cool as pristine waters bubbling out The cold and clearest stream of mountain spout But when you touch me just that way so sweet The coolness soars to summer’s tropic heat I’m as still as baby’s silent slumbering sleep Cradled in the down of pillow’s steep I’m as silent as the breath of a tiny child With but a quiet stirring all the while But when you love me just the way you do The wild and churning sea spins ‘round the two To kiss, to touch, the way you do the best Soothes my heart and heats a lover’s nest You rock the earth and captivate the moon And spin the ocean waters ‘round the room My heart pounds like the mighty rolling sea When you do the things you do while loving me Elizabeth Santos |
