Good afternoon Passions, I've decided to what I don't do much which is, to celebrate my black heritage.....I hope that my idols Nicki Giovanni, Langston Hughes(R.I.P), Maya Angelou, and most importantly, my ancestors approve of this poem and I hope, that y'll enjoy it....peace!! I'm proud to be, a descendant of africa, the motherland home of the colored man, where the hottest deserts dry, and home where the garden of eden, belies. For years, my peers, lived in fear because, of the color of their skin, as some blacks, still feel as if it's a sin to be black cause, they been brainwashed and reduced to a truthless, clueless guy believing that we're inferior and the superiors, flaunt pale skin and the bluest eye, as they neglect to see, that in the eyes of christ, we all walk on the rainbow of equality. I'm proud of my skin, my african soul, my heritage, my culture, my religion, as I'm pleasured to treasure it like gold, as I've accepted what God has made me, as I'm just happy to be alive, to be loved and acknowledged, in his beautiful eyes and when you hear this one commence to speak, you'll be hearing confidence at it's peak because, never, ever will I be, ashamed of me! One day, when my sun shines, I plan to visit the motherland one time, to see my people shine, as it would be some kind of wonderful for me, to strive with the truth, my roots of afrocentricity, and see my beautiful, black afrodisiacs, and my native brothers and mothers, loving and caring for another and sharing their words of knowledge, with the children, to keep their dreams alive, of building and making millions. Before I end this piece, I wanna thank God for creating me, breathing his divinity in me, reflecting love, infinity, peace, and happiness, into my poetry, and I wanna thank all the blacks, that graced this earth before me, as I hope your spirits stay strong, and continue to shine like stars in the sky as I vow to keep your legacies alive, until I see gray skies, and the day I die. It's a beautiful thing to hear when someone discovers the truth of self worth! Enjoyed the part especially about Christ..reminded me of an argument I once interceded into... regarding the "color" of Christ. I simply got tired of hearing these two jokers go at it--and dared to butt in--with..."instead of arguing about what color Christ was, why don't you two think about what color he is NOW?" Nice work, Nate. Eracism. |

Nate, you wrote a beautiful poem. Like I have said before....God doesn't make junk. He made you, he made me and even those who don't understand. I hope you get to go to your homeland some day. It must be wonderful to know where you come from. I have so many different nationalities in my body, I wouldn't know where to go! Thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom from you. Hugs, ME |

Nate, This was a beautiful piece of poetry and tribute to your ancestry. I am sure they would all love it. You have spoken many truths here. In the end, it really doesn't matter what color we are . . . all that matters is that we have lived our life according to His plan. That is what we have to answer for. I enjoyed this very much and thank you for sharing it. LW All writing comes |

Nate, my friend~ I loved this affirmation of your pride. We should all wear it as well. 'in the eyes of christ, we all walk on the rainbow of equality' 'One day, when my sun shines, I plan to visit the motherland one time, to see my people shine, as it would be some kind of wonderful for me, to strive with the truth, my roots of afrocentricity, and see my beautiful, black afrodisiacs' I just LOVE both of these statements ! Peace n' love~ ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Nate I just found your poem and I've been cruising the site all day. I would have liked to be first to respond to this poem. I think you should be proud of you and proud of your poem and there is never a reason not to be proud of your strong race. You have two words in your poem that are delicious sounding. Afrocentricity and afrodisiacs. A lot of people are going to sit up and take notice of this writing. Love, Joyce [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (edited 04-07-2001).] |
