Third Trimester Of The Heart
~*Marge Tindal*~

Sonographic thoughts of you
blip across the swollen moon night
As heartbeats of endearment flat-line
resuscitation attempts can not make it right

I must expel you from my thoughts
for there is no joy to be found
No longer can I gestate the pain
of having you around

So I scream out - Abort !  Abort !
With laborious effort my sanity I must defend
Sadly, in this third trimester of the heart
our love has come to an end

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

OUCH!!! well said...
... sometimes it's like giving birth....

labor can be quite painful, no doubt about it...

an intense poem with layers and levels of meaning... wonderfully done....

the realization and birth of you in the truth of how things are... if that makes sense... well, that's my analysis anyway... and i'm just the reader, you, the Poet... and "good" poetry says we all get something different from it...

i liked this because it was concise, saying so much with so few words, a quality this rambler admires.... and so very emotionally real

excellent work, my friend

Thanks for letting me know you found the 'layers'.

*Tee-Hee* ... been accused of a 'ramble' or two myself !
It's also a trait my muses admire !

Whew...I think the doctor slapped me...
this was not what I expected by the title
you are soo clever and full of poetic surprises...
which speaks to your talent.
very cool employ of metaphor Margie-girl.
give new meaning to the words labor of love.

GreenEyes~
Thank you.
I was thinking that for some, the time comes to abort
the feelings that cause them pain ...
think that works ?
Sort of a 'moving on' time.
I appreciate you.

JanetMarie~
Well ... I'm just full of surprise, huh ?
Just a little 'thinker' !

Acire~
A very nice compliment.
I thank you.

JLR~
Thanks for mention of the title ...
sometimes that's where an idea begins ...
and sometimes it comes after a poem is written.
In this case ... it came first ... and the thoughts followed.

PoeMinister~
Thank you so much for your thoughts.

Appreciate the read and your comments.

Hi Marge,
This piece really hit home with me in a way.
Only, I'm still hanging on, left on life support!
I really enjoyed this one!

But how can you abort the hurt
And leave the heart still beating?
For somehow, getting rid of both
Seems somewhat self-defeating!

Sorry, Marge... couldn't resist... (Okay, Okay... I didn't try. *G*) Great poem, dear lady, and wise advice... but ya gotta know some of us are gonna whine forever... buy ear plugs! *G*
