Unseen faces, unheard voices
Shadows falling from sadness past
Once so sweet upon my lips
An aftertaste of chalk and ash

Unrepentant, prideful I stand
Knowing I surely know best
Yet the shades are noisome
Deaf to my pleading request

A vision of inner peace
A gentle stillness in my soul
The purest love ever known
The only one to make me whole

She was willing, waiting
How ignorant and unreasoning I
Unforgivable and grevious my error
To let such a one pass by

A foolish and irrational decision
Made without thought to the cost
Haunted and lonely do I lament
The paradise I now have lost...

How we pay for failing to bend our knees or bow our heads.  Pride is a pain much of the time.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.

sea_of_okc, hind-sight is a terrible thing to be right about.  If only we could have "hind-sight" first, then we would know what to do first.  So sorry, dear friend.  ME

HEY YOU!!!!!
welcome back from sea
this is a bittersweet song of regret Steve-gator..
but written with your sincere gift of emote from pen.
Beautiful melancholia poem of truth...
we learn all our lessons the hard way.
hope to see you around more old friend.

Sad lament, yet powerful message here my friend.  Welcome back, hope we see more of you.
