Overhead

You shone

Bright Beyond

Gentle Morn

Early man

gazed upon

this god

above

whose light shone

and fed ground

and fed trees

who fed the birds

and the bees

still we stare

way up there

to the past

you lived

in favour.

The very deep did rot: O Christ!
That ever this should be!
Yea, slimy things did crawl with legs
Upon the slimy sea.
