I Hope My Words Abide Each day of our journey- Takes us closer to the end... Each turning of the trail, we face- New foes, or maybe friends. Each challenge met, and won or lost- Defeat, or victory... Does place another chisel stroke- On that sculpture known as Me! Now I’ve been writing poetry- Since nineteen ninety-eight. I’ll never sell, that’s just as well. I scribble on life’s slate. To leave my mark, a memory- For those who come behind... Graffiti down the halls of life... A glimpse into my mind. Unimportant? Likely so- Another nameless bard. Whom Death pursues relentlessly- And now He’s pressing hard. Yet still I’d like someone to know- He lived, he loved, he died. So tirelessly I scribble on... And hope my words abide. |

quote: I know this feeling. Your words will abide. They will reside, and carry tides... I share your values.... |

Gunslinger: I'm glad I caught this poem today. I have been posting elsewhere and don't come here often, but I love your poetry! I always look for it. It definitely will abide! Betty Lou Hebert |

1998, that's the same year I started writing. Funny, I thought you'd been writing most of your life. I think you've expressed the heart of many poets in this piece, John. Well done. |

Your writing gives a good view of the poet. I'm glad you started writing when you did. I started in late 99. It's a great way to express yourself. Especially for people like you who have a wonderful way with words. Roger |
