Still she tries. (For my mother) |

Sun shining down, she slips off her cap, Her hairless head basking in the light of day. Her halo shining brightly above her neatly rapped, We know she’s an angel, her dues she’s paid. Slowly she walks, like a babe’s first step, Still she tries, Movements come rough these days, Still she tries, Daily tasks routine, now a burden, Still she tries, All she wants is to be well, not sick, Now she cries. The toxins invade her body, Searching for its source, Of this deadly disease, It seems to make things worse. Each day goes by, she thanks God above, Still she tries, For another day to give and receive love, Still she tries, Nothing could impair her faith, Still she tries, Only wanting to reach her health again, Now she cries. This sickness is a part of it, We have long been told, When does the sickness end? When will the medicine take hold? There beside her, we walk each stride, Still she tries, Giving her encouragement and love, Still she tries, Helping her into bed again, Still she tries, Not wanting to give her up yet, We silently sit and cry. Cancer is an evil thing, Causing a many, great pain, One day she will walk with wings Her halo and robe unstained. Thank God for my angel, Love you Mom. |

~*Reaching for a box of Kleenex*~ "And still she tries Good for her! This is so touching. What a beautiful tribute to your mother. Cancer, such a vicious and hideous crime against us. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, and Welcome to Passions! ~Sheri |
