The secrets
inside my heart
aren't easy
to divulge
I don't share very well
so many times
I've hoped for
just one friend
to confide in
to reveal myself to
only to be let down
it's been so long
trust isn't
given as freely
as easily
as once before
I feel myself
hiding again
closing up
locking doors
being afraid
too much
was said already
and my heart
is running
desperately afraid
of being hurt
of trusting in something
that isn't real
making a joke of me
and destroying
a piece of my spirit
that can never be
regained
repaired
revived
unable to move
one inch closer
I retreat
holding my fragile heart
praying
for
strength........

I enjoyed reading because lots of times I feel this way. Not with my husband but with family members, that I felt I could trust.

There are people you can trust, you shared your thoughts with us, your friends, didn't you? People shouldn't hurt each other, life is too short. Thank you for sharing, came right from your heart.

Oh Sea, I KNOW exactly where you are coming from with this. There are those we trust so much, and then to find out they never were what they said to start with. That sh-- burns me up!! Sweet lady, I think you are me today with these words you write. (but trust does come again...one day. hugs)

all we can do is learn to trust our instincts..
there are certain people who prove themselves to be true over time...
we often learn the hard way and our trust never comes cheap..but if we treat others with respect and honesty...they will do the same, and we have to try to not let the ones who hurt us keep us from finding the ones who are sincere.

When I lived in California I had two close friends I could trust...now in Hawaii I have one I think I can trust but still not totally sure and one I know I can't trust...trusting friends seem to be rare sometimes...James

Boy, can I relate. Sometimes you don't know who you can trust, but you know a good friend will prove themselves without you even asking, you just know after awhile, and I hope you have one.....this is heartwarming.
