Walked Virginia Salter Walked of a morning taking in the cooling of gentle breezes ‘neath haloed light of springtime sun. My steps echoed by shadows merging and emerging past stores and lamp posts stretching barriers before me that swallowed up my memory then spate it out onto sun-drenched squares of yellowed-up concrete only to engulf the imprint of my being anew when it disappeared, again, from view into light-starved square yards of paved walkway. Sunday morning has dressed the streets in quiet interrupted only by the beeping “walk” and an interloper seeking directions. My footsteps even missing from the soundings one would expect to hear greet their ears. Merely the pages of my own thoughts and readings crackled in their turnings to assure “life is in the day.” My homecoming has brought a peacefulness even a profound sleepiness that has heavy-laden my eyes and sated my sighs with the comfort of Afghan and pillow and minutes to rest. ©May 13, 2001 [This message has been edited by VAS (edited 05-13-2001).] |

You must know that I loved this. So gently exquisite. "I am not now that which I have been." |
