What a Difference a Day Makes Yesterday I shared my dinner With the cats and dog Cried over my misfortune Cursed the man who still tried to control me Wondered how I’d get along Even one more day Today I had my own tuna sandwich And some canned ravioli It was wonderful Today I am grateful To be eating such a humble meal To have such connected, loving friends That it doesn’t take too much to make me happy That I didn’t ask again I’ll find my way out of this mess I’ve made And I pray that when I do My days of servitude will be over My days of answering to you |

This was precisely written with sharp images that linger not in the mind, but rather at a soul's level of understanding. "I am not now that which I have been." |

Sometimes the simplest is the sweetest the fare you indulge for corporeal aware Sometimes you have to have been there in a place thankful for that place itself We in this land of treasure seeming boundless often rarely give a thought or care to what ifs and probabilites of tomorrow to know the nature true can only build the spirit of you I once worked in services emergency all those people you never think of until you need them desperately we had no holidays always on call just in case you or friend or family might I recall an officer, yeah a guy in blue, hey I used to tell those guys where to go a good 40 hours a week my joke for you he and I took jugs of water to an old man dispossed hurt DHS considered him too hard a case too grumpy too hard to handle but we found him glasses too and food and tried again and again on our own time until one case worker who saw beyond his anger for a reason many as it were but we found one person in the system that would help this old man he didn't want to be old, he didn't want to be near blind, he didn't want his tiny oh so tiny income stolen from him each month yes he was angry but we took him water tried everything we could and finally found him help I always thought it strange me bringing back to work DHS materials to pass about I guess every organization overlooks seomthing But maybe the oddest part is I never met the officer in blue on the radio or phone we knew each other that way I could give you his name and would recognize in an instant his voice but in all the trips of water food and anything we could do we never met I guess That wasn't the important part we just both did what we felt we had to so a long story means what to humble dinner is not humble at all and if you reach out you may find giving No matter what commercials say or your indoctrination We are here to help each other it is the only way take delight in your moments they shall not come again Peace to your heart is Peace to Mankind and its greatest Feast of all "The most redeeming facet of life is that we have the comfort of knowing it will end. Death doth love equally." [This message has been edited by ATelamon (edited 03-28-2001).] |

A day does make a difference. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, all you have to do is keep focus. Very human poem, I like it! |
