When I was a little girl,
my mother gave me a small token of love,
in the form of a charm.

Encased in a small round ball
about the size of a marble,
was a mustard seed.

She further said "This seed
is a mustard seed -
the seed of faith."
The mustard seed, so small
the size of a grain of rice.

I asked "How can something this small in size
handle something so big as FAITH?"

My darling daughter,
"as you grow, I want you to keep this token.
For no matter how big of a problem that you face in  life,
You may have-
a small amount of faith the size of this mustard  seed is all you need."

So I pass my token on to my love...
the pen holder of my life.
So as we grow in love and years on,
we'll face whatever life challenges together.
We'll walk that journey,
hand in hand.

You keep pulling me ever so gently...
out of my shell.
So patient, so patient...
For there are times when words fail me.

What can I give to you that you don't already have?
I can't even measure to the pleasures you give to me
day in and day out.
You've touched me in places...
with your spoken and unspoken words, actions and deeds.
Your quiet and kind nature you give so freely.
Your compassion for mankind...
you give without questions.

Again, what could I give to you...
So, this too I say as you've said to me...
"I pledge myself, the way I am, nothing phony,
and don't want to be perfect,
just plain ole me, is what you get..."

This small seed that I hold in my hand,
reaches out for yours.
Hand in hand we'll face it's challenges.
You are but my light, my love, my all...
my soul mate through out eternity.

This is very lovely and peaceful.  I remember those charms quite well.  My sister wore one.

I miss you so much I cant stand it
Seems like my heart is breaking in two

LP, yes, this is very true.  My adopted sister gave me a small glass ball that contained, in water, a small mustard seed.  She told me the same thing.  I have since believed that faith, even when it seems invisible, still exists.

As does hope, charity, love, and peace.  We might not see them, but that does not mean those very things cannot guide us each and every moment in our lives.

Well done.

This is lovely and touching.  I always liked the idea of having faith the size of a mustard seed, sometimes it shrinks to that and other times it's more th size of my heart.  Joyce
