Pretend

yet another
disappointment
to sting my eye
pare me up again
with your tongue
peal back my skin
bare my bones
take
something else
there is a little left
now lick
from the icing
of your cake and eat it too
then just smile
and pretend

Outstanding work! The shrill tones of your message come through, clearly.
