Burst from Heaven Virginia Salter Deeper grows the gray as the rumble, crash and groan of day fills this orb, this piece of earth rocks demeanor, steals one’s mirth Then...the burst from heaven falls pelting all within its call. Rivulets form, begin their flow watch them, down the street they go! Dancing in car-roof-top play higher, higher join the fray. Faster, faster fall to fly as the clouds go crawling by. As their all is spent so fast to a trickle storm’s spell is cast. Drumming turns to strumming as light filters in, numbing The senses in awe of what has come the mind, the heart struck fully dumb. Surely no view can quite compare to the feel and color of the air Beyond the storm into the light a glinting contrast to the night. Outside the window, drink-laden leaves, sparkle as starlight in the breeze. Clouds above turn soft gray and white as heaven twinkles through its light Bits of joy brighten well my soul as thunders cease to make their roll. ©April 28, 2001 |

I did so enjoy this We have these sudden down pours in Washington too. And it's always so beautiful when the sun comes out. Joyce |
