The Night The night walked straight into my house Took off her skin under the light Upon the chair, she placed her blouse Jumped into bed, right by my side And there, in silence, sparks ignited We burned in passion’s warm embrace And in our bodies, cells collided And souls, with ardor, interlaced So sudden, almost on a whim We fell in love, so wild, thrilling Filled up with pleasure to the brim We watched the smoke rise to the ceiling Upon the desk, the candle flickered From a seductive, tempting breeze It slowly melted and disfigured Upon the plate, its wax would freeze Its shadows danced, the light was fading Outside, through creaking of the frost I heard the chilly winds debating I closed my eyes and all was lost Woke up alone, half in dismay I found a note, which read in grieving “I’m sorry Love, I couldn’t stay I’ll make it up to you this evening...” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The night creeps like a beggar, or else, a robber, With eyes so sullen you’d think she’s mourning. Her black overcoat with the buttons of copper Hangs on her shoulders until the morning. She visits me nightly, and usually stays for supper. Her grief is at once depressing and warming. The mirrors and windows attempt to trap her She escapes often raging, and sometimes storming. I knew her since childhood, we grew up together. I seldom saw her, but knew she was waiting. Then came adolescence, we started dating, We spend many hours talking, debating And now we’ve bonded like birds of feather. She never asked if I loved her, I never told her. I knew she could fulfill my every desire. She’d sit by my side and I would hold her, And as the weather got colder and colder, We moved closer and closer in search of fire And saw the flame rise higher and higher. Now, the flame laps the lantern in frenzied play, It’s turning colors, bursting and hissing. And across the ceiling its shadows sway. We’ve fused into one, hugging and kissing And this time, either she will remain all day, Or the sunrise will find both of us missing. -------------------- Check out more of my poetry here: http://www.unknownpoets.com/db/authors/master |

And across the ceiling its shadows sway. We’ve fused into one, hugging and kissing And this time, either she will remain all day, Or the sunrise will find both of us missing so many great lines here tonight..thank you Master ..I enjoy the night the most... ~Wynter/Maureen "The worst prison would be a closed heart". |

Master~ WOW~ Another masterful piece from you. I especially liked the second part of your night~ 'Now, the flame laps the lantern in frenzied play, It’s turning colors, bursting and hissing.' That is just wonderful imagery. Enjoyed this one very much. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
