Seeing not the Tear

Walking in the rain they do not see his tear
washed in the sky shower flowing free

Feeling his consciousness
the gift is given
splashed into the glistening film to join the rest

past the warty toad awake from winter’s cold
beside the tulip’s blade so far from home

through the new green grass fixing time away
under canopied elms adding one more year

past the bare apple tree venerably gnarling its trunk
by the old purple lilac trying to bloom again

hearing the kinglets frail song bearing north and home
they will not know he’s there
seeing not the tear

soon gone to the deep and to the vapor

and the young grey kitten huddled from so many tears
wonders as he passes
can he really be trusted?

washed in the sky shower flowing free
