i gave up today.
i gave up who i really am
for someone everyone thinks
i should be.
i shouldnt fall so quickly
for those inviting glances
and smiles.
i shouldnt leap at the chance
to be alone with prying hands
and kisses.
i should wait for the one
with a caring heart
and soul.
i should only love the one
with comforting arms
and words.
i should love you.

You write very well, Sami. I think we all sometimes do this, with much regret. I admire your realizing it. Sometimes we never do.
