~~~
"Perhaps they were right in putting love in books.  Perhaps it could not live anywhere else."
~William Faulkner~
(Light in August)
~~~

I don't think that I believe in love.
At least, not the kind that I've been dreaming of.
Maybe it only exists in old love songs.

I want someone who thinks the world of me
and lives to fulfill my every fantasy.
I want to laugh and love my whole life long.

I want someone to wake me with a kiss
and to let me know I'll always be his.
I need someone to hold me in the night.

I want the kind of love that always wins,
where the boy always gets the girl in the end,
like the movies you can only see in black and white.

I want someone who will always be true.
One who will dance with me in the living room
or have a picnic right in our own backyard.

Surely there's someone who loves the way I laugh
and doesn't mind my three hour baths.
One who won't walk away when times get hard.

I want someone who calls me on the phone
and thinks of me at night when he's alone.
One who would be with me whatever it took.

I don't think that I believe in love.
At least, not the kind that I've been dreaming of.
Maybe it could only live inside a book.

TennesseeAngel~
And when you least expect it -

'One who will dance with me in the living room
or have a picnic right in our own backyard.'

OR

One who will have a picnic in the living room
AND dance with you right in your own backyard ! !

I enjoyed your thoughts ... and when you find that love~
I want to be here to hear your poetry sing !

Angel,

It does exist and I hope you find it soon.

Obviously it lives in your heart...and I know you are not the only one in the world that desires love...so you just need to meet the one that desires love as much as you...not so easy but I believe that would be possible...James

Thank you all for the lovely replies.  I have not sworn off men or given up on love or anything.     I just came across the quote and started writing.  I believe that true love is waiting just around the bend.
