Mrs. Muir's Companion

You've known the sea.
But not like this.
You've strolled, and looked, and felt the push
Of ease. Courting surf,
You've felt it break and then recede
To come again
Diminished.
And then you've vowed
That you are finished climbing steps
That circulate and circulate,
Up and up
Until
They stop.
Then what?
The answer lies in looking out.
Not for self, or certainty,
But here, beyond, where I will be
Forever distant,
Always near,
Your true companion,
My love,
My Dear.

The "Ghost and Mrs Muir", I loved that movie. It is how I'd like to end my days.

Before I entered, I was thinking of John Muir the conservationist.  I've seen the movie of which all speak, but I don't recall it well enough.  I think I was too, too young to really 'get it' ;o}.

Enjoyed the poem, even though, beyond the images it creates in one's mind, I'm at a loss.  Probably need to see the movie again to fully appreciate this one...I mean to its fullest.

Came back for another read...and in reading the comments, they brought forth a smile...this movie always made me feel very young...

to be eternally in love...

and to find your love, no matter where they may reside...
